The Challenge

Taking on the growing challenge of food fraud

Fiin was established in 2015 by a consortium of leading food businesses with the goal of enhancing food supply chain transparency and integrity. The creation of fiin was largely driven by high-profile incidents of food fraud which exposed vulnerabilities in the food supply chain and highlighted the need for more robust mechanisms to detect and prevent such activities.

Fiin is used by food businesses to strengthen their defenses against food fraud, which can have serious implications for consumer safety, brand reputation, and regulatory compliance. Analysis of the aggregated, anonymised database via advanced visualization dashboards, enables companies to take proactive steps to mitigate risks in their own supply chains.

Creme Global has been a trusted technology and data partner, playing a crucial role in the development of the fiin platform. Their expertise in data anonymisation, aggregation, and analytics has enabled us to facilitate secure, collaborative data sharing across the food supply chain. Over the years, Creme Global have worked closely with us to develop our platform and deliver valuable insights that enable our members to make more informed decisions and protect consumer trust.

The Solution

Combating food fraud in a new way

As a strategic partner to fiin, Creme Global developed, hosts and maintains the fiin Data Trust. This is a secure, anonymized data-sharing platform that allows member companies to contribute and access critical information related to food authenticity, safety, and fraud. The key aspects of this solution include:

Fiin members primarily submit data on food testing results related to suspected food authenticity. This data is anonymized, double blinded and stored in a centralized database managed by Creme Global. Using the advanced visualization dashboards, fiin analyzes the aggregated data to identify potential food fraud risks and trends. The network then provides members with regular reports and alerts, highlighting areas of concern and emerging threats. This enables companies to take proactive steps to mitigate risks in their own supply chains.
