Creme RIFM 2.1 Release

The fragrance industry is a multi-billion dollar industry with fragrance chemicals appearing in everything from cosmetics and personal care products to household cleaners. In order to ensure consumers are only exposed to safe levels of these chemicals we developed, in collaboration with the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM), the Creme RIFM model. We're delighted to announce the release of v2.1 of that model.

The Creme RIFM model allows for the estimation of exposure to fragrance materials in personal, air care and household products to US and European citizens. This is achieved through the combination of probabilistic modelling and an extensive database covering consumer habits and practices data and fragrance levels in products, supplied directly by RIFM members. The original Creme RIFM model was released in March 2014 and since then has been put to extensive use by RIFM to determine aggregate exposures to fragrance materials – with the added benefit of reducing the burden on animal testing.

With the release of Creme RIFM 2.1, this exposure model has been enhanced even further with a number of key improvements:

  • Thanks to our Expert Models platform the model is fully cloud based – there is no need for a desktop installation, simply login from a browser.
  • The user interface has been refreshed making it easy to setup and run an assessment in just a few steps.
  • The underlying data has been updated with a number of new additions:
    • Addition of Household Products.
    • Inclusion of Italy and Poland in the consumer surveys.
    • Inclusion of adolescent age-group.
    • Updated fragrance concentration data.

Improvements are continually ongoing and in particular the next milestone will be the release of the Optimization Assessment model. This will allow the determination of safe fragrance levels in individual product categories to keep average daily exposure within defined safe limits.

If you’d like a detailed look at the new version contact us and we’ll be happy to arrange a demo.
